It is with profound sorrow and deep respect that we remember and honor the life of Air Vice Marshal Prasanna Payoe—a skilled, fearless, and dedicated combat helicopter pilot whose extraordinary contributions to the nation, the Sri Lanka Air Force, and the field of aviation have left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
From his earliest days in the skies, Prasanna’s talent, courage, and professionalism shone brightly. Whether facing grave challenges or carrying out routine missions, he exhibited an unwavering calm and technical mastery that earned the admiration of peers and superiors alike.
I recall with fondness the countless moments we shared in the cockpit, experiencing the exhilaration of flight and camaraderie. Prasanna’s presence brought not only professional assurance but also warmth, laughter, and a unique sense of connection that made him an exceptional companion.
Beyond his prowess as a pilot, Prasanna was a visionary leader, an inspiring mentor, and a devoted administrator. He guided countless officers and airmen, sharing not just his expertise but also instilling the values of integrity, responsibility, and excellence.
Prasanna’s bravery in combat missions was legendary, and his dedication to his country earned him numerous decorations. His courage in the face of adversity and steadfast commitment to protecting the nation are a testament to his character.
To his beloved family—Shyian, Vishanni, and Nishani—we extend our deepest condolences. Your loss is shared by all who cherished and respected Prasanna, whose memory will forever remain a source of pride and inspiration.
