Turkish Military Attaché meets Defence Secretary
Military Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey for Sri Lanka, Colonel Can Gokcen Gokkaya paid a courtesy call on the Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne at the Defence Headquarters Complex, Sri Jayawardenepura, Kotte today (Feb 2).
Following a warm reception, the Sri Lankan Defence Secretary held cordial discussions with the Turkish Military Attaché on matters of bilateral importance and mutual relevance.
Recalling the cordial and mutually supportive ties existing between the two countries, avenues to further enhance defence cooperation and initiatives for military student exchange programmes were also discussed during the exchange of views.
Mementos were exchanged between the two officials to mark the occasion.
The Turkish Military Attaché based in India is here in view of the forthcoming Independence Day celebration that will be held at the Independence Square in Colombo.
Military Liaisons Officer Maj. Gen. Dinesh Nanayakkara was also present at the meeting held adhering to the healthcare procedures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
