“Major General Fernando to Lead Civil Security Department”

Major General KHP Palitha Fernando (Retd) has been appointed as the new Director General of the Civil Security Department (CSD), a key leadership position in Sri Lanka’s defense structure. On January 23, the Defence Ministry hosted a formal appointment ceremony, where Fernando received his Letter of Appointment from Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd). Fernando succeeds Air Vice Marshal Roshan Biyanwila (Retd), who held the position for several years, and brings with him extensive military expertise. Having served in multiple senior roles within the Sri Lanka Army, Fernando is recognized for his exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and in-depth knowledge of national security operations. Under his leadership, the CSD is set to reinforce its mission to protect civilians and respond swiftly to natural disasters and emergencies, ensuring Sri Lanka’s safety and stability.
