Newly appointed Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, called on the Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), on February 3 at the Deputy Minister’s office.
The meeting marked Air Marshal Edirisinghe’s first official engagement with the Deputy Minister of Defence since assuming office as the Commander of the Air Force.
During the meeting, Air Marshal Edirisinghe expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the Commander of the Air Force and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the operational capabilities and strategic readiness of the Sri Lanka Air Force. He also highlighted his vision for enhancing the force’s role in national security, disaster response and technological advancements.
Major General Jayasekara (Retd) extended his congratulations to the new Air Force Commander and commended the Air Force’s continuous contributions to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty. He emphasized the importance of inter-service cooperation and assured the Ministry’s support in furthering the Air Force’s objectives.
The meeting concluded with the exchange of mementos, symbolizing the strong partnership between the Ministry of Defence and the Sri Lanka Air Force.
