New Air Force Chief pays courtesy call on the Defence Secretary
Air Force Commander Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa upon commencement of his new appointment paid a courtesy call on the Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne at the Ministry of Defence, yesterday (Jul 06).
The Defence Secretary warmly received the Air Force Chief on arrival and held a cordial discussion on matters of mutual relevance. During the occasion, the Defence Secretary extended his warm wishes to the new Air Force Chief on his appointment.
Air Vice Marshal Rajapaksa was elevated to the three star rank on 30 June and appointed as the 19th Air Force Commander following the retirement of former Commander, Air Chief Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana.
Mementoes were also exchanged between the Defence Secretary and the Air Force Chief, during the occasion.
Military Liaison Officer of the Defence Ministry, Brigadier Dhammika Welagedara was also present at the occasion.
